Can I use a QR code for a PDF?

Yes. Point a Taproo destination at a PDF that is already hosted online, then share that destination as a QR code. If the PDF URL changes, update the editable destination where your plan supports it.

Will it open in the phone's PDF viewer or a browser?

On iPhone it opens in Safari's PDF viewer; on Android it opens in Chrome's viewer or the default PDF app. No download required to view.

Can I protect a page before sending someone to a document?

Pro includes password-protected pages. Use the access controls available for the Taproo page or destination you create; do not treat a QR code itself as document security.

How do I update the PDF without changing the QR?

Open the page in your dashboard, upload the new file — the QR keeps the same short URL, so the next scan serves the new version automatically.

QR code for PDF (menu, brochure, manual)

Host a PDF behind a QR code — menus, brochures, instruction manuals, event programmes. Swap the file any time without reprinting the QR, and see exactly who opened it.

Build your pdf & files QR — free Shop NFC products

Replace the PDF any time — corrected menu, updated brochure, new manual revision — the QR stays the same.

Track opens by time and device so you know which print run, mailer or product line drives downloads.

Gate access behind a name/email on Pro plans for lead-capture brochures and gated whitepapers.

How it works

1
Upload your PDF
Drop your PDF, image or file into the Taproo PDF builder — we host it and give it a short URL.
2
Get the QR or NFC tag
Download the QR as PNG/SVG, or order NFC stickers / cards programmed with the URL.
3
Update the file any time
New revision? Upload the new version — the same QR now serves the latest file.
