Is this a real GS1 Digital Link, or a wrapper?

It's a real GS1 Digital Link URL with your GTIN encoded in the path, conformant with the GS1 Digital Link standard. POS scanners that support GS1 Digital Link read the GTIN directly; older scanners can still extract the GTIN from the URL pattern.

Does it meet the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements?

Yes — Taproo's GS1 page captures the DPP data points required under ESPR (materials, durability, repairability, recyclability, carbon footprint, hazardous substances) and exposes them via the GS1 Digital Link unique identifier, which is the EU's preferred data carrier.

Do I need my own GTIN?

Yes — GTINs are issued by your local GS1 Member Organisation (GS1 UK in the UK). Taproo generates the Digital Link URL and QR around the GTINs you already own; we don't issue GTINs.

Can I update product info after the packaging is printed?

Yes — that's the main reason to use a dynamic QR for DPP. Recall notices, recipe changes, updated care guides — all go live without reprinting the pack.
