No paid plan is required for standard Taproo NFC products such as keychains, programmable stickers and business cards. Free includes 1 dynamic vCard + 1 other dynamic page, basic scan & tap analytics (7 days history), 1 external web address, on as many tags as you like (any Taproo page is always free), unlimited re-pointing between your own Taproo pages and 1 external-address change. Routine Hub stickers use a separate allowance: Free keeps 1 Routine active with today's activity, while Pro unlocks unlimited active Routines, additional preset categories, goals, streaks and 30-day Routine history.

Can I point a standard NFC tag at my own website on the Free plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes — for standard NFC tags, Free includes 1 external web address, on as many tags as you like (any taproo page is always free). So if you bought five standard tags and want all five to open the same web address, that's fine on Free. A second, different web address needs Pro. Pointing standard tags at Taproo pages you host is always included, and re-pointing between your own Taproo pages is unlimited (plus 1 external-address change). Routine Hub uses its separate one-active-Routine Free allowance.

Is there a free plan, and what are the limits?

Standard NFC products work on Free without a subscription. Routine Hub separately includes 1 active Routine sticker with today's activity; additional Routines and Pro tracking features require Pro.

Which hosted page types are included, and on which plan?

Pro adds the Bio link hub, restaurant Menu, Google reviews and Review pages (with private feedback capture). Every supported page type works with both QR codes and NFC tags.

How do I create my first destination (QR or NFC)?

Sign up for a free Taproo account, click "New hosted page" on the dashboard, choose a destination type (URL, vCard, Wi-Fi, hosted page, etc.) and save. You can immediately download a QR code, order a pre-encoded NFC tag from the shop, or both — all three options point at the same editable destination.

Do I need to install an app to scan a Taproo QR code or tap an NFC tag?

Accepted Answer

No. Every modern iPhone and Android camera app scans Taproo QR codes natively, and iPhone XS+ / most Android phones read NFC tags in the background — no third-party app required.

How do I test before printing or shipping?

Accepted Answer

Open the destination in your dashboard, hold your phone over the on-screen QR preview, and confirm it opens correctly. For NFC, write a test tag from any NFC writer app (we ship them unlocked).

What's the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

Accepted Answer

A static QR code encodes the destination directly into the pattern, so changing it requires reprinting. A dynamic QR code encodes a short Taproo URL that you can re-target at any destination after print, and it tracks scans (count, country, device, referrer).

Can I add my logo to the QR code?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upload a PNG/SVG logo in the QR designer and Taproo automatically sets a high error-correction level so the code still scans reliably. Contrast warnings appear if your colours risk legibility.

Which export formats are available?

Accepted Answer

PNG, SVG, PDF and EPS, in print-ready resolutions. SVG and EPS are vector and scale to any size without quality loss — recommended for large-format print.

What size should I print my QR code?

Accepted Answer

Rule of thumb: minimum size is scan distance ÷ 10. A QR code scanned from 1 metre should be at least 10 cm × 10 cm. For posters viewed from 5 metres, print at 50 cm × 50 cm or larger.

Why won't my QR code scan?

Accepted Answer

The most common causes are: (1) too small for the viewing distance, (2) low contrast between QR colour and background, (3) printed onto reflective material with glare, or (4) damaged/folded across the code. Test from the final viewing distance before mass-producing.

What does NTAG213, NTAG215 or NTAG216 mean?

Accepted Answer

They are NFC chip variants. NTAG213 holds 144 bytes (great for short URLs), NTAG215 holds 504 bytes (digital business cards), and NTAG216 holds 888 bytes (richer payloads). All three are read by every modern iPhone and Android phone.

Are Taproo NFC tags compatible with iPhone?

Yes. iPhone XS and newer read NFC tags in the background — just hold the top of the phone near the tag and a notification appears. No app required. Older iPhones (7, 8, X) need to open the Camera or NFC Tools app first.

Are NFC tags compatible with Android?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Almost every Android phone manufactured since 2014 has NFC support — usually enabled by default. Just unlock the phone and tap the NFC area (usually the back centre or top) onto the tag. If nothing happens, check that NFC is turned on in Settings.

Can I re-program a Taproo NFC tag?

Tags shipped from our shop point at a dynamic Taproo URL — you change the destination from your dashboard, the physical tag never changes. If you'd rather write a raw URL directly to the chip, our tags ship unlocked so you can write them with any NFC writer app.

How close does the phone need to be?

Accepted Answer

Typically 1–4 cm. Reading distance depends on the antenna size — keychains and cards work from a couple of centimetres, posters with larger antennas can read from 5 cm or more.

How do I write a WhatsApp tag with NFC Tools?

Accepted Answer

Two options on every WhatsApp page. Option 1 (recommended) — use the Copy button to grab your trackable Taproo link (https://taproo.com/p/your-slug) and write that as a URL/URI record in NFC Tools. With the page set to NFC → Direct it'll jump straight into WhatsApp on tap, plus you get tap analytics and can change the number later without re-encoding. Option 2 — copy the raw wa.me deep link from the same panel (no analytics, can't be edited once printed) and write that instead.

How do I delete a hosted page?

Open Dashboard → Pages, find the page you want to remove and use the ⋯ menu → Delete. Deleted pages also free up a destination slot on your plan.

How does the Reviews page and private feedback work? (Pro)

Reviews / Feedback pages are available on Pro. Every visitor can post publicly on your review URL — Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, Booking.com, Airbnb or Amazon — whatever rating they tap. You can optionally turn on "offer private feedback first" (default threshold: 3★): lower ratings are shown a private form so you can put things right, with the public review link still available on the same screen. Google's policies prohibit review gating, so Taproo never hides the public link. Optional reward codes, suggested topics and 9-language UI are included on every plan that has the Reviews page type.

What does the GS1 / EU Digital Product Passport page include?

A full GS1 Digital Link builder with extended Application Identifiers (GTIN, batch, serial, expiry, weight, country of origin), product materials, carbon footprint, recycling instructions and recall banner. Owner tools include an A4 PDF conformance report, an A4 retail label sheet, a 50-event scan trail and a linkset.json export you can register with the official GS1 resolver. UI strings are localised into 9 languages.

Can I set my Emergency ID as my phone lock-screen wallpaper?

Yes — it's a free feature included with every Emergency ID (ICE) page. In the page editor, click 'Lock screen wallpaper' under PIN & print formats, choose a style (Light, Dark, ICE Rose or Hi-contrast), pick iPhone or Android resolution, and download the PNG. Then set it as your Lock Screen in your phone's Settings → Wallpaper. First responders see your details the moment they pick up your phone, with no tap or scan required.

Connect My Pet is our dedicated pet-safety registry, built and run by the same team. It's purpose-built for pets — microchip linking, nose-print ID, lost-pet alerts, vaccination tracking and a global scanner network — so it's a safer, more complete experience than a generic Taproo page. The free profile is free forever.

Can I edit a hosted page after publishing?

Yes. Hosted pages live at /p/{your-slug} and you can change content, theme, links and images at any time. The QR code or NFC tag never needs to be reprinted.

Can I use my own theme or colours?

Yes. Each page type ships with a theme picker (light, dark, gradient, brand colours) and a layout picker. Custom CSS is coming soon.

Can I password-protect a hosted page?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on Pro plans. Set a password from the page's Routing & Security settings — visitors will be asked to enter it before the page loads.

Do NFC taps count toward my monthly limit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Scans and taps share the same monthly interaction allowance — 500 on Free and 25,000 on Pro. We don't meter NFC and QR separately. The counter resets at the start of each calendar month.

How long is my scan and tap history kept?

Scan and tap history is kept for 7 days on Free and 30 days on Pro. Pro also unlocks advanced analytics including location and device insights.

What does Taproo track when someone scans a code?

Accepted Answer

Scan count, approximate country (from the edge proxy header), device type (mobile/tablet/desktop), browser family, and HTTP referrer. We do not store the visitor's IP address, do not drop any cookies on them, and do not fingerprint the device.

Is Taproo's scan analytics GDPR compliant?

Yes. We do not store IP addresses or any personal data, we use no advertising cookies on hosted pages, and all data is processed in EU/UK regions. Because no personal data is collected from visitors, no cookie banner is required on /p/ pages.

Can I export my scan data?

Yes. From the Analytics page you can export a CSV of every scan event for any date range. A public REST API and webhooks (page.scanned) are coming soon.

Team workspaces with multiple members and roles are part of the Business plan. Free and Pro accounts get a personal workspace; upgrade to Business to invite teammates and assign roles.

Yes — Review pages are part of Pro. Every visitor can always post publicly on Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, Booking.com or Airbnb — we never block a rating from reaching the public review form. If you set a threshold (default 3★), lower ratings are *also* offered a private feedback form so you can put things right; those submissions show up in your dashboard. You can offer a reward code on submission (as a thank-you for feedback, not in exchange for a positive public review).

How many AI page generations do I get?

Free includes 5 text + 1 image / day. Pro includes 100 text + 20 images / day. Quotas use a rolling 24-hour window, and failed generations don't count.

Can I schedule a QR code to launch on a specific date?

Yes, on Pro. Set a Starts-at date in the page's Routing & Security settings — before that date the code shows a "coming soon" page, after it the real destination loads.

How does geo-targeting work?

Geo-targeting is coming soon. It will let you add country rules (e.g. GB → uk.example.com, US → us.example.com, * → fallback) so Taproo redirects the visitor based on their country, detected from the edge proxy.

What does the Branded workspace URL get me?

Accepted Answer

Coming soon: a team workspace will be able to pick a slug (e.g. "acme") and serve every dynamic page at taproo.com/b/acme/{page} instead of taproo.com/p/{slug}. Reserved words and existing slugs are blocked, and ownership is verified on every request so no one can hijack your brand. Set it from Dashboard → Workspace → Branding.

How do I remove the "Made with Taproo" badge from my pages?

Can I use a true custom domain (e.g. links.yourbrand.com)?

Accepted Answer

Coming soon. A true custom subdomain requires DNS configuration on our hosting platform and is on the roadmap for team workspaces — we'll email you when it ships. In the meantime, the Branded workspace URL (taproo.com/b/yourbrand/{page}) gives you a branded link today with zero DNS work.

Is there an API and webhooks?

UK orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days on a tracked service, so most arrive 2–4 working days after ordering. Standard UK delivery is £2.99 and free on orders over £50, with Express UK Delivery available at £4.99. We currently deliver within the UK only. Hosted pages, tag activation and memberships work worldwide — only hardware delivery is UK-only.

Yes — three options: iron-on woven QR labels (30-pack, £9) for shirts, jumpers and PE kit; sew-in NFC clothing tags (5-pack, £15) for premium uniforms and care-home laundry that survive 30+ wash cycles; and dishwasher-safe shoe & lunchbox QR stickers (24-pack, £6). All three pair with our Lost & Found page — turn on Kids mode to keep finder pages child-safe (hides surname and home address).

On any product page, pick the design you want and choose how to link it: (1) Link to an existing page in your workspace, (2) Create a new page after purchase using a setup link we email you, or (3) Send setup link later if you're buying as a gift or haven't decided yet. You'll see exactly what will be encoded before you pay.

Can I review my order before paying?

Yes. The checkout page shows an Order summary with each line item, the design you picked, the linked page (title and /slug) and the link mode. Hit "Edit" next to any line to jump back into the product builder and change your mind — your cart is preserved.

What's the difference between Existing, Create after purchase and Send setup link later?

Accepted Answer

Existing — your tag is encoded with the URL of a page you've already built; nothing else to do. Create after purchase — we email you a one-tap setup link right after payment so you can build the page and we then encode the tag before shipping. Send setup link later — perfect for gifts: the tag ships pre-pointed at a placeholder, and you (or the recipient) can claim it any time by replying to your order confirmation with the URL or starting the setup yourself from your account.

What's in the order confirmation email?

A receipt for your order, the design and link mode for every line item, the destination URL for any "existing" links, and a clearly labelled Next step block telling you whether there's anything left to do (build the page, send us a URL, or just wait for shipping). It comes from notify@taproo.com.

I didn't get my order confirmation — what should I do?

Check your spam/promotions folder for a message from notify@taproo.com. Confirmation emails go out within a couple of minutes of payment via our retry-safe queue, so even if our provider is busy they will arrive. Still nothing after 30 minutes? Email hello@taproo.com with your order number and we'll resend it.

Can I unsubscribe from order emails?

Order confirmations and setup links are transactional and necessary for fulfilling your purchase, so they can't be unsubscribed. Optional emails have a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer of every message, and you can manage categories on your preferences page.

What happens to my extra Routine stickers if I cancel Pro?

They stay saved in your account but pause when your paid period ends. Free keeps one Routine active. Paused stickers do not log taps until you upgrade again, and their settings and historical data are preserved.

Can someone else tap my Routine sticker?

Yes. A partner, family member or colleague can tap a set-up active Routine sticker and the tap is recorded against the owner's Routine. Only the owner can change the settings or view the dashboard history.

Do I need an app for Routine Hub?

No. The NFC sticker opens a normal Taproo web page. Tap-to-log works in the phone browser, while the owner manages activity and settings from the Taproo dashboard.

Can I switch plans anytime?

Yes. You can change your membership from your Taproo account. Upgrades and downgrades are handled through your billing settings, with downgrades taking effect at the end of your current billing period.

What happens to my codes and tags if I cancel?

Your Pro benefits continue until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account returns to Free. Your existing pages, Routine settings and data stay in your account. Routine Hub keeps one Routine active; extra Routines pause and Pro-only goals, streaks and history become unavailable until you upgrade again. Other Taproo products continue under the Free plan limits.
