Where do I find my activation code?

It is the 6-digit code on the small card packed with your order, next to your tag number (for example TAP0001). If you bought several tags, each one has its own code — you can activate them all in one go at taproo.com/activate.

Do I need an app to use my tag?

No. Every iPhone XS and newer, and most Android phones from 2015 onwards, read NFC tags straight from the lock screen. If a phone has no NFC, the QR code on the product or packaging opens the same page.

I've lost my activation code — what now?

Contact us with your order number or the email you used at checkout and we will re-issue the code. Nobody else can activate your tag in the meantime: a tag can only be claimed once, and it stays unclaimed until you enter the code.

My tag says it is already activated

That means the tag has already been claimed by an account. If it was you, sign in and it will appear under NFC tags in your dashboard. If it was not you, get in touch and we will investigate before releasing it.

Does it cost anything to keep my tag working?

No. The free plan includes two hosted pages, one tag pointed at your own web address, and 500 scans and taps a month. Pro (£9/month) and Business (£29/month) unlock unlimited pages and tags, custom slugs, advanced analytics and team workspaces.

Can I change where the tag points later?

Yes — that is the point of a dynamic tag. Edit the page or re-point the tag from your dashboard and the next tap goes to the new destination. The chip itself is never re-written.

Slide the phone slowly around the back — the NFC antenna sits near the top on iPhone and the middle on most Androids. Metal surfaces block the signal unless the tag is anti-metal. Failing that, use the QR code instead and everything works the same way.

Five steps, start to finish

Step 1
Tap your tag (or scan the QR)
Unlock your phone and hold it against the tag. It opens a taproo.com/t/ address. No app needed — iPhone XS and newer and most Androids read tags from the lock screen.
Step 2
Enter your activation code
Go to taproo.com/activate and enter the 6-digit code printed on the card that came with your order. If you tapped the tag, the tag number is already filled in for you.
Step 3
Create a free account
Sign up with your email or Google. The free plan costs nothing and keeps your tag and page working — no card required.
Step 4
Choose what the tag opens
Pick a page type — digital business card, Emergency ID (ICE), Google reviews, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, luggage tag — or point the tag at any web address you already have.
Step 5
Test it, then change it whenever you like
Tap the tag again to check it opens the right thing. You can re-point the tag from your dashboard later; the physical tag never needs re-writing.
